To support the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct (MIP), the Moorebank Avenue Realignment Works (MARW) Project Contractor, BMD, will start construction works from early April 2025.

About the project
MARW involves the realignment of an existing three-kilometre section of Moorebank Avenue, from approximately 130 metres south of the existing Anzac Road/Moorebank Avenue intersection to immediately north of the East Hills Railway. This will be constructed as a new four-lane/two-lane road, east of the existing Moorebank Precinct East, and once operational will improve vehicle access for public and operational vehicles.

The majority of construction works for the MARW will be offline, with minimal impact on existing traffic arrangements expected.

What to expect

From early April 2025 weather permitting, construction works within the MARW footprint will include, but are not limited to:

• Installing traffic management controls and access gates
• Traffic staging and switches
• Construction of temporary and permanent water basins
• Stormwater drainage works
• Site clearing and remediation
• Earthworks and materials importation
• Construction of retaining walls
• Utility adjustment and relocation works
• Demolition and removal of redundant utilities
• Removal of the Disused Rail Spur (DURS)
• Traffic signal installation
• Kerb, gutter and median installation
• Asphalt works
• Fencing and road barriers
• Streetlighting
• Shared path construction
• Linemarking and sign posting
• Landscaping

Works will take place around the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct, with limited impact to road users. Equipment such as light vehicles, profilers, excavators, rollers, bobcats, compaction
equipment, bogie trucks, cranage, and heavy vehicles will be required.
