Wednesday 13th June 2018
SIMTA has received approval for clearing and construction of the Rail Link in the corridor east of Moorebank Avenue and south of the Import-Export terminal facility.
SIMTA’s contractor, CPB Contractors, will be accessing the site from the entry points located off Moorebank Avenue to the south and north of Anzac Creek, and is expecting to commence works in this area later in June.
Survey and ecological inspections will be undertaken prior to the commencement of clearing and subsequent earthworks, to ensure sensitive vegetation is protected either side of the rail corridor and fauna can be relocated during the clearing process.
Large plant and equipment will be floated into site to commence and undertake the works, and efforts will be made throughout the work to minimise disturbance and associated construction impacts on nearby community members and motorists using Moorebank Avenue.
SIMTA has consulted closely with the Office of Environment & Heritage, Department of Planning & Environment and Royal Botanic Gardens in relation to the commencement of work in this area.
