Another exciting milestone has been reached for the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal development, with a formal planning proposal now submitted for the upgrade of Moorebank Avenue.

Motorists using the new Moorebank Avenue will benefit from significant improvements to traffic flow, road safety and decreased travel time, if the proposal is approved and once completed.

The proposed upgrade includes widening Moorebank Avenue from one lane to two in each direction between Anzac Road and the East Hills Railway, along with traffic lights to provide streamlined access into the eastern side of Moorebank Logistics Park.

The alignment of Moorebank Avenue would also be moved east, with the new alignment wrapping around the far eastern boundary of the development site. While the existing road alignment would be retained for an internal service road.

A temporary road diversion would be in place to provide vehicle access between Anzac Road and Chatham Avenue during construction of the road upgrade.

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has been prepared to inform assessment of the proposal. This document provides a comprehensive overview of the proposal and its potential impacts.

The Department of Planning Industry and Environment (DPIE) has placed the proposal on public exhibition and invited all community members to make comment.

To learn more about the proposal, view the EIS and other key documents, and make a formal submission, click here to visit Department of Planning Industry and Environment’s dedicated project page.

The Department of Planning Industry and Environment will consider community submissions when deciding whether to approve the proposal.

The deadline for making a submission is 13 April 2021.

The NSW Government has also started early planning for a future upgrade and extension of Cambridge Avenue, Glenfield. The project would improve access to Moorebank Avenue and address long-term population and employment growth in the region.
