EcoTour program
The Moorebank Intermodal Precinct EcoTour program
Students from Wattle Grove Public School gain special access to Moorebank Intermodal Precinct’s conservation zones, and observe native wildlife in its natural habitat under the guidance of qualified ecologists.
The EcoTours the students participate in are designed to provide real-world exposure to local conservation efforts and aligns with the school’s science curriculum to provide an enriching learning experience while emphasizing minimal environmental impact.
The conservation zones at Moorebank are three times the size of the Sydney Botanical Gardens and have historically remained closed to the public to enable regeneration and avoid accidental damage to the delicate ecosystem.
The EcoTour concept is not only a first for the precinct but also a key component of a partnership between the school, National Intermodal and ESR A&NZ, that will offer every Year 5 and 6 student at Wattle Grove Public School the opportunity to visit this otherwise restricted conservation area.
Moorebank Intermodal Precinct looks forward to establishing similar partnerships with other interested schools over time.
